Question # 3

I thought one of the more interesting parts of the chapter was the section on Facebook.  I am doing another project about the uses and gratifications when using Facebook and this section provided alot of good information.  Facebook is such an extraordinary thing to me because it allows for us to build or relationships with others when they are thousands of miles away.  It allows for us to keep in touch with people who we dont talk to on a regular basis.  Our facebook profiles also helps show our personalities.  We are able to share our likes and dislikes and find people with the same kinds of interests.  I really liked this section and it had alot of great information that could also help with this project.

  1. I, just like you LOVE my Facebook. I am very guilty to be one of those people who share everything on Facebook but I think it is a great social network. I have connected with many people through Facebook and kept close relations with people that I don’t get to see often. I think that Facebook does give great gratifications to the user as well. It is almost like a high you get posting statuses, seeing everyone an what they are doing with their life and being in control of who you chose to see and let into your life. I think as time goes on we will see more social networks like this one and they will only get more and more complex.

  2. Facebook is pretty amazing. It is so awesome to be able to connect with friends and family who are in completely different time zones! There aren't too many people who are NOT on facebook these days. It is actually quite funny (or sad) that at one point I had more relatives on Facebook than friends! So in a way, Facebook can be some what scary because some people that are your friends may be snooping around your profile (like my mother! lol). But it all comes down to what you choose to make public. It is very important not to give too much detail about yourself and at the same time be appropriate. Overall, I love Facebook and I don't think it will be going anywhere anytime soon.
